I didn’t know him that well, but at one point we called each other friends. I will never forget his help through such a hard time in my life, and how he made me see all the good that came from that. All of our talks and conversations I still look back on; Praying for all the friends and family. I am so sorry for your loss, he was an amazing guy to know and will be a treasure for the Lord to have as an Angel.

Prayers for you and your family. Have no words to express how sorry I am for your loss. One young man said to me today that Jaryd was the nicest person he went to school with said Jaryd treated every one as if they were the most important person in the room it never mattered what team they were or were not on. He included every one and made sure noone was ever left out. I think that is a wonderful way to be remembered. God Bless.

Sending thoughts and prayers to all of Jaryd’s family and friends… I didn’t know Jaryd as well as I would’ve liked and this situation is hard to take… I can’t imagine what everyone else is going through. Jaryd was one of those people that made a lasting impression on someone just by smiling at them. I knew him in high school and was especially thankful for him during our boring geography class when we would spend it hashing out plans to our ultimate fishing boat instead of listening to lecture. The last time I saw him, we were all going swimming and he didn’t bring a suit, so I brought him a pair of my short shorts to wear as a joke. Joke was on me though – he threw them on with no hesitation. The thought of him brings a smile to my face. He had one of those infectious laughs and always knew how to brighten the mood. What an awesome person. This world won’t be the same. You will always be remembered, Jaryd, by every person lucky enough to know you.

I was privileged to have Jared in my fourth grade class at Starr Elementary many years ago. I echo everyone else’s sentiments – that smile, that upbeat personality. What a wonderful boy. I remember telling his parents at conferences how much all the other students as well as adults thought of Jaryd. His dad said they heard that time and again from friends and strangers: “What a great kid you have.” At that time I awarded ‘Citizen of the Month’ for one boy and one girl. Normally the award was given to a single student only once in the year. That year Jaryd was made ‘Citizen of the Month’ repeatedly and I do not recall any child quibbling over it. They knew Jaryd deserved that recognition for his kindness to all.
My son, Dave, had a brief interaction with Jaryd when the Plainwell varsity football players were helping the Rocket Football kids work out on a hot and humid afternoon. Jaryd was wearing cleats that were too small for him but he didn’t let that stop him from running and practicing with gusto. Out of all the rowdy Rocket players, Dave came home remembering Jaryd as ‘such a cool kid.’
There are no words that can truly convey the sadness and grief that come with losing a child. None. Just please know that Jaryd will not be forgotten and that your family will continue to be lifted up in prayer during the tough years ahead.

Chris & Brett & Family,
I only saw Jaryd a few times at the Red Barn, never knew him personally, but to read all of the above, what a legacy for such a young man! What I do know is that all I have ever heard is what a generous and loving Mother you were to him Chris, over and over again, I have heard this.
To lose a child I cannot even begin to imagine your pain, I truly believe though GOD has a plan for all of us and when we have accomplished that plan, he calls us back home. My Nephew became one of these Angels also at 16 yrs old due to a car accident.
You have your Angel that walks besides you now and always. Open your hearts and minds, Jaryd will let you know that he has made it home. Open your hearts to what is around you, there are no such things as coincidences, Jaryd will let you know that he has found peace, and then you will be able to find peace in your hearts once again……Smile at your Angel when you look towards the sky, he has the best seat in the house, and I am sure as he is watching over you now, he is smiling down at you all also 🙂
Love and Prayers Chris & Brett and to your family,

First of all, my heartfelt sympathy to the family, who I know from experience is going through unimaginable sorrow that consumes every second of your day. Although there is nothing I can say at this moment to make that pain go away, I can tell you with certainty, that in time that sorrow will morph into appreciation for the amazing young man that brightened your lives. I had the honor to coach Jaryd along with his grandfather, Tom Tungate, in youth football. What I remember about him was his infectious smile, his fearless mentality, and his willingness to help his team do what it took to succeed. Just a great kid with a great attitude. He and my late son Harry were quite a site standing next to one another…both wearing smiles as big as their hearts. A memory I will always cherish.
