Mr. Gail R. Tandy of Middleville (formerly of Martin) passed away Thursday, October 11, 2012, in Kentwood. Mr. Tandy was born December 7, 1937 in Plainwell, the son of C. Allen and Julia Mae (Brown) Tandy. He was a 1956 graduate of Martin High school and attended Western Michigan University. He spent most of his life on Gun Lake, where he attended the Gun Lake Community Church. Gail collected coins and automobiles and enjoyed motorcycle riding and traveling, especially to his property in the Mackinaw City area. He listened to Jazz and Big Band music, was a huge MSU fan and was very active watching his grandkids sporting events.
Surviving are 2 sons and1 daughter, Gregory Allen (LuAnn) Tandy of Middleville, Laurie Ann (Craig) VanEck of Middleville, Trace Patrick Tandy of Blue Springs, MO; 7 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Georgia Mae (LeRoy ‘Babe’) Young of Traverse City, Alice Ploof Washtoak of Plainwell, Charles Thomas (Elaine) Tandy of Kalamazoo; 12 nieces and nephews; many lifelong friends in the Martin and Gun Lake areas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a niece Kathy and a nephew, Tommy.
Friends may meet with Gail’s family beginning 11 A.M. Saturday, October 13, 2012, at the
Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego
, where funeral services will be held at 12 Noon with Pastor Mark Veldt officiating. Burial will follow at South Martin Cemetery.

I am sorry for your loss. My folks (Joe & Dorothy) lived next to Gail on Gun Lake for many years. They always enjoyed his company. I always enjoyed talking “Spartans” with him as well. I feel blessed to have known him, and he will be missed.

We our sorry to hear of his passing. He never told us he was sick the last trip we saw him in Michigan. Hope he is in a peaceful place now. Sorry we did not see him this year. May God Bless you and your family during this time.
