Frances E. Krusinga

She was born December 16, 1933 on her family’s celery farm in Alamo Township to Henry and Effie (VanderVeen) VanOosten. As a young girl, Fran went to a one room schoolhouse near her home where she had fond memories of sledding down the 6

On May 25, 1951, in her parents’ living room in Alamo, she was married to Merwyn Krusinga. Fran and Merwyn had four children together. After graduation from nursing school, Fran initially worked for Pipp Hospital in Plainwell, and later for several medical offices in Otsego and Plainwell. Fran also served for many years as the bookkeeper for the family business, Krusinga Plumbing.

Fran enjoyed many Saturday afternoons getting together with relatives for swimming and playing horseshoes at Minkler Lake and Osgood Lake. Fran loved being outdoors, camping, fishing, gardening and caring for animals. Fran enjoyed the time she had caring for her family and spending summers at the family camp on Drummond Island. She was a member of Twin Lakes Reformed Church and later, Third Reformed Church (now Centerpoint Church) in Kalamazoo.

Surviving are three sons and a daughter, Greg (Margaret) Krusinga of Bellevue, Becky (Dennis) VanDelfzijl, Gary (Joette) Krusinga and Jeff (Karen) Krusinga all of Alamo Township; eight grandchildren, Sarah (Dale) Ehinger, Rachel (Ian) VanHover, Joshua VanDelfzijl, Jacob Krusinga, Charles Krusinga, Ryen Krusinga, Kayla Krusinga and Samantha Krusinga and her sister, JoAnn Kline of Alamo.

Much sympathy to the family. I remember Fran from Twin Lakes Church and Doctor offices where she worked. I always got warm and caring attention. Hugs and prayers for those left behind.
