Evelyn M. Walters

Evelyn M. Walters of Battle Creek (formerly of Otsego and Kalamazoo) passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2010, in Battle Creek. She was born in Allegan, Michigan on May 16, 1918 to parents Eve and Charles Querbach. Evelyn was a member of the Otsego United Methodist Church for over 30 years and attended the Parchment Methodist Church after moving to Kalamazoo. On October 19, 1938 she married Clyde Walters. Their 72 years marriage ended when Clyde preceded her in death earlier this year. Evelyn was a devoted wife and mother and provided love and support to her two sons, Dan and Mick. Dan and his wife Shari and Mick and his wife Glenda survive her. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, Scott (Claudia) Walters, Jeff (Kristin) Walters, Alissa (Scott) Deeter, Laura (Craig) Wood, Marci Walters, Danielle (Paul) Vanderhoff and Aaron (Lyndsay) Walters; 13 great grandchildren; a great great grandchild; 2 sisters and 1 brother, Vivian Holliday of Cincinnati, Ohio, Suzanne (Clare) Kuiper of Kalamazoo and Wayne (Jean) Querbach of Conroe, Texas. She was preceded in death by brothers, Rex and Glenn, and sister Wilma Laurin. Friends may meet with the family at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego on Monday at 11:00 AM with the funeral service to follow at 12:00 noon, with the Reverend Dan Minor officiating. Interment will follow the service at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the LifeSpan Good Samaritan Hospice in Battle Creek.
