Eugene Book

Eugene G. “Gene” Book of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013 at his home. Mr. Book was born August 29, 1932 in Battle Creek to Gordon and Fern (Francisco) Book.

For many years he was employed at the MacSimBar as a paper maker, retiring from Rock Tenn as Tower Boss Supervisor in 1994. In his leisure time Gene enjoyed working on tractors, golf, horseshoes and especially family time. He was a member of the Good Sam Mobile Mid Mittens Club Chapter 38.

On June 30, 1956 in Galesburg, MI he married the former Donna Allan, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and a son, Eugenia (Roger) Jackson-Kling, Christopher (Kim) Book and Annette (Roger) Bayne; grandchildren, Amy (Erik) Burkhead, Matthew (Jamie) Jackson, Michelle (Josh) Whipple, Nicole Kling and Nathan Kling; great-grandchildren, Alexis, Kora and Ivy Burkhead, Zachariah Whipple and Alexis Schmitt; sisters, Deanna Elliott and Louise VanHout; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by siblings Maxine Harback, Charles and Leon Book.

Friends may visit with Gene’s family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, May 13, 2013, at the

Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego

where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 14, 2013, Pastor Stephen Burrow officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of ashes at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego at a later date.

so sorry to hear of uncle Gene’s passing. When ever i saw him he always had something funny to say. And made me laugh. I enjoyed looking at his tractors, When we had a family event. I liked listening. to him and Uncle Charles talk about farm stuff. from the old days.

My Deepest Sympathy to you Donna and your family.I’m so sorry to hear about Gene’s passing. I will be missing him alot,and I know having been in the same team in horseshoes,I will always remember him with his big smile and his friendship. You are in my thoughts and my prayers.Someone like Gene who meant so much to so many people,will live on in so many loving memories.

Hi Donna & Family, We were so sad to hear of Gene’s passing. We had reservations at St. Ignase, Monday and Tuesday,other wise we would have went to Gene’s service. We were always good friends, from carrying off on the cutters together, on up to him becoming tour boss. He was just a good guy all around, and what a since of humer. Janet and i send our thoughts and prayers to you and your kids. Janet & Bob Lamper
