Elsie M. Cook
Elsie passed away Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the Wings Home in Allegan.
She was born August 22, 1936 in McDonald, MI, the daughter of George and Lucille (Baker) Brown. As a young girl Elsie was raised by her Aunt Ethel Brown. She worked at the Holiday Inn and Sheraton Hotel in Kalamazoo starting out as a maid and worked her way to assistant supervisor. In her free time Elsie enjoyed word search books, watching the game show network, listening to old country music, bowling, sewing, cooking, keeping a clean house, camping and was a motorcycle momma. She loved her shih-tzu dogs.
On August 22, 1953 she married Joseph Cook Jr. who passed away in 1969. She later married Duane Hoogendoorn and then James “Dick” Cook who also preceded her in death.
Surviving are her children, Joel (Lynn) Cook of Gobles and Karen Cook of Otsego; 3 grandchildren, Christopher Cook, Corey Cook and Jen Sawyer and 3 great-grandchildren, Cody and Evan Cook and Mason Sawyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands; son, Alan in 2011; brother, Lester Brown and step-father, Jake Banks Sr.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial gathering will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 23, 2021 at Baraga Manor in Otsego with Pastor Andrew Manwarren officiating.
