Elaine Cooley

Vivian Elaine Cooley of Otsego, Michigan, passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013 in Plainwell. Mrs. Cooley was born September 29, 1927 in Allegan to James and Hazel (VanKeuren) Hays. Elaine was a member of the First Congregational Church of Otsego, the Otsego Women of the Moose, a member and past president of V.F.W. Post #3030 Ladies Auxiliary; a life member of the V.F.W. National Home for Children and a life member of Camp Trotter. She loved her family and was a devoted homemaker.

On June 28, 1947 she married Chester ‘Chet’ Cooley, who died in 2007. Also preceding her in death were two brothers, Marvin Hays and James ‘Jud’ Hays.

Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Robert (Linda) Cooley of Otsego, Deborah (Jim) Nimmer of Kalamazoo, Gary (Kay) Cooley of Kokomo, IN and Ann (Patricia NaQuin) Cooley of Pensacola, FL; five grandchildren, Scott (Jerri), Erin (Gordon), Jason (Brandy) Daniela (Chris) and Jennifer (Manny); ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty June Goodacre of Plainwell; a sister-in-law, Carolyn Hays of Allegan; several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit with Elaine’s family from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at the

Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego

, where Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, March 14, 2013, Pastor David Youngs and the V.F.W. #3030 Ladies Auxiliary officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of ashes at Oakwood Cemetery, Allegan.
