Elaine B. Bohjanen of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2009 in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Bohjanen was born April 4, 1921 in Grand Rapids to Roscoe and Lottie (Wendrich) Warner. From 1942 to 1946, she worked in the General Motors Defense Plant. Her family and her faith were most important to Elaine. She was a wonderful loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
Elaine was a member of Peace Ev. Lutheran Church in Otsego. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed cross country skiing, fishing, camping and watching cooking shows. On May 20, 1946 in Grand Rapids she married Arnold Bohjanen who survives. Also surviving are 3 sons, Robert (Virginia) Bohjanen of Kentwood, Douglas Bohjanen and David (Lori) Bohjanen, all of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren, Michael, Lindsay, April, Steven and Andrea; 1 great grandson, Andrew; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Russell Warner and 2 sisters, Mildred Hull and Gladys Kenney. Friends may meet with her family from 4-7 P.M. Tuesday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 AM at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church, Otsego, Pastor Jason Thiel officiating. A committal service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at Rest Lawn Memorial Park, Grand Rapids. Memorial gifts can be made to the American Cancer Society or Peace Ev. Lutheran Church.
