I cannot believe that this vital lover of life, lover of his children, and lover of his life-partner is gone. I have known him as my first-grade student at Starr Elementary, as a friend to my son at Plainwell Middle School, and Plainwell High School, and as the father of sweet Destiny, my 2nd-grade student this year. He seemed to enjoy each experience in his life as it came, and he had such plans for his life to come with his fiance, his 2 little girls, and his beautiful new son who all look just like him! My heart full condolences to his wonderful family. Love, Tina Menta

Kassanda, I am soo..soo..sorry to hear of the passing of Dustin. You and the kids are in my thoughts and prayers. If there is anything you need, please let me know. You and Dustin were so much help when Steve died. I don’t know how I would have made it without the friendship of the Plainwell clan. Margy

Dustin and I used to ride the same school bus, back in grade school. We were actually pretty close friends in the 4th or 5th grade. We drifted apart by the time we got to Middle Schoo and I haven’t been close with him in years, but I always remembered him as a great guy. He was friendly and fair, he was a good man. The world needs more people like him. I was shocked and saddened to learn that he’d died.

Dustin was an amazing man. I became friends with Dustin through Austen Smith while still in high school. He was always fun to be around and had an extremely strong will to be the best he could be. He passing came a shock to me, always expected him to be that one bada** old man with the best stories. He will be dearly missed by all he came into contact with. His family and children are in my thoughts and prayers.

I can’t imagine what it must be like to loose someone so close to you like this. All though I didn’t work directly with him I did talk to him on occasion and knew he was a good person. My prayers go out to the whole family. Just another reminder to tell the people you care about you love them everyday!

I’ve known Dustin since he was young, My son Randy Herbert and Dustin would intentionally in fun drive me bonkers, especially when they decided to slap each other with fly swatters, I used to wonder “what the hell is wrong with them two boys, that has to hurt”, but they just laughed. I loved Dustin, and will truly miss him. Candy you are in my thoughts and prayer as is his whole family.
