On October 29, 2024, Doug got to meet Jesus face to face, after a courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. He was reunited with his parents, Howard “Tag” and Marge (Abbott) Wesler and for the first time met his sister, Kay, who passed away before he was born.
Doug was a dedicated mechanic at Don Seelye Ford in Kalamazoo, where he devoted many years of service before retiring in 2017. Doug’s passion extended beyond work. He was an avid drag racer and member of the National Hot Rod Association. He took great pleasure in being a University of Michigan football season ticket holder, sharing his love for the game with friends and family. On September 27, 1997, at the First Congregational Church of Otsego, he married Cindy Stolk who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Dannielle (Brett) Beier and Marc (Amanda) Wesler; stepchildren, Brian (Kris) Nap, David (Dana) Nap, Mike (Michelle) Nap and Amy (Jim) Davis; grandchildren, Sophia, Emmalyn, Bo, Matt, Alyssa (Kenny), Shelly (Russell), Lissy, Nollen, Emma (Drew), Logan, Arianna, Nate (Kyleigh) and Grace and great-grandchildren, Kerri, Ally, Cadence and Nicole.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister and step-great-grandson, Bubby.
Friends may visit with Doug’s family from 2-6 PM, Sunday, November 3, 2024, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 4, 2024, with Pastor Jim Davis officiating.
Burial will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery.
