Doris passed away, peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Alamo Nursing Home.
She was born in Brookings County, South Dakota, on January 11, 1935, the daughter of Louie and Elsie (Meier) Krogmann. She grew up on the family farm and moved to Michigan in the early 1950’s.
For 14 years Doris was a bus driver and later became the first director of transportation for Plainwell Community Schools until 1995.
Doris had an adventurous spirit and loved traveling. After retiring she sold her home and for 12 years lived full time in her motor home. Doris traveled between Michigan, Florida and South Dakota where she worked in the tourist industry for several summers. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards and Bingo and socializing with her many friends.
Surviving are her children, Roger (Sandy) Evink of Otsego, Jerald Evink also of Otsego and Beth (Chris) Ronfeldt of Kalamazoo; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Marian, Marie, Deloris and Vernon along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, son, Jeffrey Evink and siblings, Louie Krogmann, Lillie Evink, Elsie Heller, John Krogmann and David Krogmann.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 4:00 P.M., Saturday, January 20, 2024, at the Winkel Funeral Home in Otsego, with celebrant Nyla Merrill officiating.
Burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery at a later date.
