Donna (Reed) Westfield was born at home on December 8, 1921 to Walter and Florence (Julian) Reed. After dealing with the aftermath of a stroke for several months she joined the love of her life, Fred, in heaven on Sunday, September 15, 2013. While in high school Donna worked at Clyde Berry’s Grocery Store (later Dick’s Grocery) in Otsego. She enjoyed her work as cook and nanny while her husband Fred worked as handyman at the historic Bardeen family mansion. They lived in the carriage house there in their early years where their daughter Judy was born and five years later their second daughter Lorna came along. Donna worked at a fruit canning factory in Medford, OR during WW II and later worked at the Fram Company in Otsego (formerly Eady Shoe factory); the coating mill; the MacSimBar, folding egg filters and Span Brass. Donna enjoyed being a part of the Otsego UMC and helping with the Apple Dumplin’ Gang. Being a warm, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were her passions. She loved her flowers especially “Lilacs in the Spring”, working in her gardens and well-kept yard as well as watching and feeding the birds. She so enjoyed treating everyone who walked through her door with goodies and candy and playing cards, especially “horse and pony”. Her grandchildren and great grands were the joy of her life. Everyone called her the baby magnet. She was married to her loving husband
Fred
on July 19, 1941. They spent 67 years together until his passing on Christmas day in 2008.
Surviving are her daughters, Judy (Chuck) Kiel of Plainwell and Lorna (Craig) Sisson of Otsego; 5 grandchildren, Fred (Debbie) Kiel, Tim (Dana) Kiel, Angie (Mike) Galovan, Sarah (Mark) Rollandini and Stephen Craig (Abby) Sisson; 12 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Glenda Staley and Linda Clock and a brother Walt (Vivian) Reed; many well-loved nieces, nephews and wonderful friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, and sisters,
Wilma Cushman
,
Peggy Rex
and Maryann Reed.
Friends may meet with Donna’s family at the
Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego

I was so sorry to hear about the passing of Aunt Donna. She was always so sweet to my children (Clock Kids) and myself. She would always make sure to let us know to stop by her house on Halloween, so she could see the children in their costumes and give them their treats. The Kids always wanted to go there 1st! My Condolences to the entire Family,
