Donald W. Clawson of Plainwell passed away surrounded by his family, Sunday, September 7, 2014 in Kalamazoo.
He was born March 24, 1935 in Allegan, the son of Ernest and Laura (Dunklee) Clawson. Donald served his country in the US Army. For over 20 years he worked as a machinist for Eaton. On March 21, 1959, in Allegan, he married Dolores Hinkle who survives.
Also surviving are his children, Dorrian “Rian” (Lydia) Clawson of Arizona, Rebecca “Becky” (Russell) Deaton and Dorrinda “Rindi” Lee Clawson both of Plainwell; 5 grandchildren, Kelly (Dan) Kursinsky, Russ (Erin) Deaton, Anthony and Amanda Santiago and Rianna Lee Clawson; 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Jordan Kursinsky and Avery Cross; a sister Norma (Robert) Thompson of Muskegon; several special nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews and his special golf cart buddy, Brenden Stanley.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Jeffery L. Clawson; 2 brothers, Harold and Bobby Clawson and a granddaughter, Amy Jo Deaton.
Cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego. Friends may visit with Donald’s family from 3:00 P.M. until the time of the service at 4:00.
Contributions in memory of Donald may be made to the
Alzheimer’s Association
or the
American Cancer Society
for colon cancer research.
