) Valkner and had been a lifelong resident of the area. For many years he was a self-employed carpenter and handyman. Surviving are his wife, Charlene Valkner of Allegan; a son and a daughter, Bryan (Shannon) Bernier of Plainwell and Melissa (Tim) Ball of Lake Station, IN; 6 grandchildren, Cody (Brandy), Samantha, Jenna (Kyle), Robert, Zach and Kera; his mother, Doris Steele of Plainwell; 3 brothers, Melvin (Luanne) Valkner of Kalamazoo, Charles (Donna) Valkner of Manton and Richard (Janetta) Valkner of Plainwell; his mother-in-law, Virginia Faucher of Allegan; 2 step-brothers, Chris (Julie) Steele of Plainwell and Jeff Steele of Comstock; 3 step-sisters, Della (Steve) Jones of Bloomington, IL, Rhonda (Trent) Webb of Schoolcraft and Angela Steele of Canton, MI; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Valkner, and a brother, Jack Valkner. Friends may meet the family from 5 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at the
Winkel Funeral Home,
Otsego,
where services will be held at
10:30 A.M.
Thursday, Pastor Jerry Bowen officiating. Burial will follow at
Mountain
