Donald D. Brest Sr. of Otsego, Michigan passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010, in Kalamazoo. Mr. Brest was born November 28, 1937 in Otsego to Claude and Gladys (Shively) Brest and was a lifelong resident of the area. For over 25 years he was employed with Fabri-Kal of Kalamazoo and then with Conley Equipment (now Steensma). Don loved NASCAR, local short track racing, traveling and camp hosting at Missouri State Parks. He and his wife had traveled to all 50 states and went on 9 cruises. Don enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and was known to many as “Papa”. He was a member of Otsego Moose Lodge #345 and Allegan Eagles. On June 20, 1957 in Kalamazoo he married the former Rubie Friel, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Lori (Terry) Coe, Jan (Mike) McKee, Donnie Brest and Susan Artis, all of Otsego; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren with 2 more on the way; many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brother Larry; and his son-in-law, John Artis. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 P.M. Avenue, Otsego Township, where Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 P.M Friday, Pastor David Bruininks officiating. A luncheon at the Moose Lodge #345, 740 Lincoln Road, Otsego, will follow the service. Contributions in memory of Don may be made to Mooseheart Child City, Mooseheart, IL 60539-1182
