was born

June 26, 1928

in

Mishawauka

, the son of Willard and Lillian (Kruger) Culver. He started working at KVP Sutherland in Parchment, MI in 1946 at the age of 18 until his retirement in 1988 after 42 years. On

October 2, 1948

in

Kalamazoo

, he married the former Irene Bodnar. In their younger years, he enjoyed taking Irene and their children to church on Sundays, going to drive-in movies and Sunday drives to get ice cream.

DeVon

would do anything for his wife and children without complaining. He also loved walking, bowling, dancing and getting together with family for holidays, playing games with family and friends, meeting and talking to people and making new friends wherever he went. He won several trophies in shuffleboard and for Christmas decorations.

DeVon

was a Boy Scout leader and was a member of V.F.W. Post #3030. He enjoyed collecting eagles and the American flag. He is survived by his wife, Irene; a son, David (Barb) Culver of Bangor; 3 daughters, Jaci Wilson of Otsego, Nancy (John) Fahrne of Bradley, Pat (Walt) Schmitt of Otsego; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a daughter-in-law, Cindy Culver of Richland; 2 brothers-in-law, Jim Bodnar and Gene Mays; 3 sisters-in-law, Donna Bodnar, Grace Bodnar and Sharon Bodnar; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Culver; an infant sister, Virginia Culver; a brother, Bill Culver and a grandson-in-law Davey Westerfield. Friends may meet with the family
