Derek M. Esterline

Derek passed away Monday, April 3, 2023 in Kalamazoo.

He was born October 4, 1974 in Plainwell the son of Mark and Judy (Bowers) Esterline. Derek graduated from Comstock High School in 1992. He worked in construction and owned and operated DNA Residential. Derek enjoyed fishing, target shooting, cooking, grilling and gardening. On April 29, 2016 he married Melissa Louden who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Dustin (Bethany) Louden of Plainwell, Kailey Esterline of Otsego and Harper Esterline of Otsego; grandson Caiden and 2 more grandchildren due soon; his father; sister, Amber LaCourse along with many extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Friends may visit with Derek’s family from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, April 13, 2023 with Celebrant Nyla Merrill officiating.

Cremation will follow.

I’m so sorry to hear this Missy. During my years working with you I recall Derek picking you up at the end of the day He always had sweet Harper with him. It was clear to me how much he loved and adored you and the children. Prayers for peace and comfort for you and the family.

So deeply sorry for your loss. Derek was such a great guy. I only knew him from his work he did for me. He spoke about his family daily and he will be missed very much.

I just learned of Derek’s passing today. I am so sorry for you and your family. Derek always had a smile to share and a joke to make me laugh and thats how I’ll remember him.
