Derek Lynn Decker passed away peacefully at his home in Otsego on March 22, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. 

He was born on March 30, 1965, in Plainwell to Ralph and Dianne (Mack) Decker. Derek graduated from Otsego High School in 1983, where he participated in football, track, and wrestling. Derek proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. 

His love for sports carried into adulthood, as he remained an avid fan of both the Detroit Lions and Michigan Wolverines. Beyond sports, he enjoyed gaming, especially playing World of War Craft. He was known for wonderful sense of humor and his remarkable ability to bring laughter to those around him. 

Surviving are his children, Ryan Decker and Devon Decker; stepsons, Charles Sanders and Richard Sanders; 15 grandchildren; his mother, Dianne (Chuck Aldrich) Decker; his father, Ralph Decker; siblings, Ralph Decker Jr, Bart Decker and Eric Decker and his best friend, Scott Zantjer. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, John and Lorraine Mack and Lucy and Everett Lyons. 

Friends may visit with Derek’s family starting at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, March 27, 2025, at the Winkel Funeral Home, until the time of the service at 11:00 A.M., with Pastor Dan Minor officiating. 

Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego, with Military Honors by Otsego VFW Post 3030. 

Contributions in memory of Derek may be directed to Otsego United Methodist Church or the Otsego VFW Post 3030.
