I am so sad to hear of Dave’s passing Sandy, I hope you and your family feel some comfort and solace knowing that he is now in a better place and at rest. I have known you and Dave my entire life and you are both absolutely wonderful people! I think of you as family because you were both such great friends of my grandparents Tony and Marjorie Schuster! I will never forget the countless memories I have of you two together! Some of my favorite memories from my childhood are watching Dave play the banjo and you singing beside him, going to Plainwell Lanes and watching you and Dave bowl with my grandparents on a league, and also watching you two dance the tow step together. I am very grateful that was able to know Dave! To the entire Pomeroy family I am so sorry for your loss, I am sending my prayers and thoughts to your family at this time.

I am so saddened to hear about this great man leaving this earth. He had to be the happiest man I’ve ever met; I never saw him without a smile on his face. Sandy and family, my heart aches for you. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers as you say “until we meet again” to your Dad, grandpa, brother, uncle and best friend.

I was very sad when I heard this. My family has known yours forever. We (kids) all grew up together and spent many a night listening to some great music. That is one of the best memories I will ever have growing up. Sandy, you and Dave were great friends of my Mom and Dad and are always thought of fondly. There’s a bunch sitting around playing away where they all are now, and it sounds as good as ever, especially with that banjo joining in. It was good to see you the other night. Let me know if there is anything I can help you with.

We loved to listen to David play and Sandy sing. Some of my favorite memories of them are around a campfire singing for us.

David and Sandy became friends through western dancing. We spent many hours together learning, practicing and dancing!!

We were also privileged to have them join us on several vacations. So much fun we had!! They were always up for an adventure. (skiing, sliding into the water off the top of the boat to name just a few)

One of my favorite memories of David was traveling on one of those vacations. He and Sandy were sitting in the backseat of the truck. I think we were driving to Kentucky. David talked most of the trip. 🙂 I remember that my husband and I were both thrilled and surprised. To us David had always been pretty quiet and we hadn’t really heard him say much. What we came to love about David (once he started talking) was his quiet confidence, his intelligence and his sense of humor. We will miss him terribly here on earth and look forward to that wondrous reunion someday.

Sally and I are sorry to hear that David passed. Sally wanted me to say that she is sorry she could not attend the service.

It has been many decades since I first came to Michigan and played in a band with David, Sandy and Bobby and Wanda Jones. We only had that band together for a couple of years.

I remember Dave and Sandy to be wonderful people and I appreciate them teaching me a thing or two about playing music.

All my best.

Dear Sandy:

I was shocked to hear of your loss of David. I knew the Pomeroy family well. I grew up around them. Mary and I use to play together when I was a little girl. May time heal, and knowing someday you will be in heaven with him.

Sincerely,

June Johnson Kennedy
