David C. Hedges, Sr. of Plainwell, Michigtan, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012, in Plainwell. Mr. Hedges was born March 29, 1929 in Kulin, Missouri to Ruben and Hodie Hedges.
For over 20 years he was employed with Southwest Gravel and since 1984 worked at Dave’s Auto. Surviving are 5 children, Donna (Mike) O’Connell of Allegan, Chuck Stratton of Otsego, David Hedges of Plainwell, Bruce (Sue) Hedges of Vicksburg and Donnie (Carla) Hedges of Allegan; a daughter-in-law, Verdeen Stratton of Lincoln, Nebraska;14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen (Wright) Hedges; 3 sons, William, Raymond and Terry Stratton; 4 sisters and 1 brother.
Cremation has taken place. Friends may meet with Dave’s family from 10 to 11 am Thursday, January 3, 2013, at the
Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego
, where a Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Jason Zimmer officiating.

Dear Dave and Family, Sorry to hear about Dave Sr. So glad we had the chance to know him and work with him for so many years at the shop.

So sorry to hear of your loss, your special Grampa. It’s so wonderful to read the references of his life….a life well loved. The circle of life goes on…but his memory will live with you forever. Our condolences to all the family throughout the area. Let us know if we can do anything…babysit, buy a book of stamps, shovel your drive….anything. Our love to you…….

So sorry to for your lost. I enjoyed talking with him and joking with him also. I know he loved working there with you Dave. He was a wonderful guy, I will miss him very much. But I will always remember
