Deepest condolences to the family.
Very few men of David’s exceptional caliber ever exist , and with his passing, sadly , one less.
His infamous statement of ” What are you doing now ding dong ” and the masterful advice that always followed was absorbed, and will be missed , but never forgotten . Good times.

So sorry to hear of Dave’s passing. May your memories soon surpass your sorrow.
Remember babysitting for Dave and Marilyn when they lived on Jenks Blvd. Also remember the days at the drugstore and the cherry cokes and green rivers and that fabulous candy counter. Lots of fond and wonderful memories.

Dave Chappell was a great example to me and everyone else, how to be kind, give your talents and how to love St. Margaret’s. When we are about ready to decide if we’re going to build a new church, he gave me the courage and faith by telling me, if the good Lord wants us to build this new church it will be built. I’ll never forget those words of encouragement, that help me work even harder for the new church.
He was a great Knight of the Knights of Columbus and a great example of a real man should be! I’ll miss him. Dan McGuire

I knew Dave Chappell as a gentle giant. He may not have learned the names of my four children, but he endeared each one of them with the name “turkey”. I knew Dave as a pillar of St. Margaret Church, one of the men of my parents’ generation who would fight tooth and nail to make our parish grow and flourish. He was a tireless volunteer. He worked endlessly on the 50 year old machinery and appliances at St. Margaret School. He loved playing the role of old codger, but we all saw the dedication and tenderness beneath that salty exterior. He worked with the school principal to make improvements in our school. I also found out that Dave could sing, but I never got him to cantor at a Mass, dog gone it. If Dave had gotten up to sing, who knows, maybe more Knights would have come out of the woodwork to lend their voices to a great men’s choir. We’ll never know. He and Marilyn always sat together in the front at Mass. He will be dearly missed.
