David A. Newton

David passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo.

He was born November 11, 1928 in Oshtemo Township to Carleton and Erma (Sanford) Newton. David was a 1947 Kalamazoo Central High School graduate and for many years he was a salesman for National Gypsum until his retirement in 1990. In his spare time David enjoyed gardening, golfing, playing tennis and dancing. On June 1, 2002 he married Helen Senhotlz who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Sandra (David) Hogan, JoAnn Warner and David Newton; many grandchildren, David was a 5

th

generation grandfather, his extended family Marilyn and Mike Meyers, David and Marie Senholtz along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Georgia Ann Newton.

According to his wishes cremation has taken place.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. at the Alamo Congregational Church.

Burial of ashes will take place at Green Bower Cemetery in Alamo Township.

Sandy, Joey and David. I am so sorry to hear about undle Dave. Alot of memories of going over to the farm and seeing your mom and dad. I know there were many good times that my mom and dad and your parents spent at the table playing cards. To Helen, we only met once a couple times. I was very glad that you two found each other. I know you were happy together. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. Dallas and Gail Wiinikainen.

Hi Sandy, Joey, and little David, I am so sorry for your loss. Uncle Dave always had a smile and an easy laugh. Remember when we would all gather at Grandma’s house for Christmas Eve? Sandy, you and I would fight over who got to sit on Grandpa’s lap. Aunt Jo, my mom, and Aunt Emily would sit together and talk and laugh like sisters do. Uncle Dave’s laugh was always part of the evening. He made sure every one was having a good time. I loved to sit and talk to your mom and dad, they were both full of fun when I was young. Helen, I know my mom had great respect for you and enjoyed spending time with you. I am so sorry, Uncle Dave will be missed.
