Daniel L Hurlbut Sr.

Dan passed away, Monday, December 9, 2024, at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. 

He was born on December 14, 1940, in Prairieville Township, the son of Earl and Dorothy (Jones) Hurlbut. Dan graduated from Otsego High School in 1958. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. For many years he worked at Parker Hannifin as a tool and die maker and owned and operated a cattle farm. 

Dan enjoyed the outdoors, whether on his John Deere Tractor or hunting he loved being in nature. He liked collecting stamps and going to garage sales with his wife. He was a member of the Otsego Moose Lodge. On May 20, 1960, at the Otsego Church of God, he married Mary Sue Confer who passed away in 2021. 

Surviving are his son, David (Marta) Hurlbut; grandchildren, Marta Huerta, Aime (Juan Sr.) Cano, Jose Roldan, Maurisa Leslie, Natesha Hurlbut and Shenea Hurlbut; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; siblings, Janet (Robert) Lamper. Sue (Randy) Hendrick and Nancy Otto; sister-in-law, Sherry Hurlbut and brother-in-law, Robert (Kathy) Confer. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; son, Daniel Hurlbut Jr.; great-granddaughter, Faith; brother, Donald Hurlbut; nephew, Justin Lower and brother-in-law, David Otto. 

According to his wishes cremation has taken place. 

Burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery at a later time.
