Watching her grow up and become the beautiful young woman full of sass and genuineness was a blessing too many of us. That smile of hers only made her blue eyes brighter! May GOD comfort you all and give you strength to endure each day going forward knowing that there will come a day when you will join Connor and never have to depart from one another again.

As so many others have said and experienced for themselves, there are no words that can touch this grievous loss. I am so, so sorry that Connor’s beautiful life has been cut short. And while so many remember her as feisty or sassy, I can only recall her as a well-liked, cooperative, respectful fourth grader in my classroom. “Mom” Marty would share Connor’s progress when I stopped in at the township hall and I was so pleased to chat with the lovely young adult Connor when she was working in grandma’s office one summer not long ago. What a gorgeous, spirited young lady! Many hearts are aching for her family and friends today. Life will never be the same for so many who loved her so much. My sincere condolences and ongoing prayers for all.

To the entire Meert family, extended family, and close family friends:

Love each other, support each other and wrap your arms around each other in the days, weeks, months, and years to come. Connor was an amazing young woman full of spirit and passion for life. As teachers we’re not supposed to have favorites, but Connor is one of my favorites. I can remember conversations with her from 8th grade throughout the years to just a year ago. I know how deeply her loss is going to impact all of you because you all loved her big and she loved all of you big. Love each other through the loss and pain.

I live just a few houses down from where the accident happened. I had heard all of the sirens and seen the lights, but had no idea what had happened until I saw the memorial today, on a walk of my own. This was a harsh reminder to be more careful walking around here, especially at night. I’m terribly sorry that this tragedy has happened; I can’t imagine what it must feel like for her friends and family. Sending love your way.
