Collins G. Smith of Otsego, Michigan, passed away

. Mr. Smith was born

June 20, 1916

in Otsego to Robert and Mary (Gray) Smith and was a lifelong resident of the area. In 1934 he graduated from

Otsego

High School

and then served with the CCCs. For over 25 years he was employed as a steam fitter for the

Kalamazoo

Regional

Psychiatric Hospital

retiring in 1978. His favorite activities included wood working, golfing and traveling. On

June 28, 1940

in

Bangor

he married Ruth Rantz, who died in 1995. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Jane Nord, in 2002. Surviving are 4 children, Michael (Glenna) Smith of Laughlin,

Nevada

, Barbara (Paul) Colyer of Plainwell, Bruce (Penny Lovett) Smith of Otsego and Coleen (Michael) Blowers of Pine Lake; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter. In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside service at

1:00 P.M.

Wednesday, Pastor Joe Shaler officiating. Contributions in memory of Collins may be made to the American Cancer Society.
