Claire E. Wycoff

Gene passed on Friday, February 13, 2015 at Alamo Nursing Home.

He was born April 23, 1921 in Benton Harbor, the son of Clarence and Ida (Merrill) Wycoff. Gene served his country in the US Navy during World War II. For 15 years he had worked at the Rex Paper Mill and then at Menasha until his retirement in 1983. Gene enjoyed gardening, woodworking, bowling, working on car engines, following the Detroit Tigers and Lions, camping with his family and spending winters in Florida which he had done for 20 years. On March 22, 1941 in Kalamazoo he married Doris Hayward who passed on in 2005.

Surviving are his children, Terry (Fran) Wycoff of Plainwell, Dianne (Dick) Andrews of Kalamazoo, Kathy (Larry) Peterson and David (Paula) Wycoff both of Plainwell; 10 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; many great-great grandchildren and his sister, Phyllis Bower.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Doris; infant son, Claire; son, Thomas; granddaughters, Melody Demo and Sherry Rabb; and by his siblings, Ken, Floyd, Marion and Florence.

Friends may meet with Gene’s family Sunday, February 15, 2015 from 2-4 P.M. at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego and from 10 A.M. Monday, February 16, 2015 until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Joe Shaler officiating.

Burial will follow at Green Bower Cemetery in Alamo Township.

Contributions in memory of Gene may be made to the Alamo Nursing Home.
