Catherine V. Preston

Catherine V. ‘Katie’ Preston of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2010, in Kalamazoo. Mrs. Preston was born November 13, 1930 in Noble County, IN to Ray and Fern (Irwin) Enos. Beginning in 1955 Katie worked with her family at the Alamo Nursing Home, which she later owned and operated until her retirement in 2003. In her leisure time Katie enjoyed cooking, quilting and being with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. On July 29, 1950 in Otsego she was married to William ‘Bill’ Preston, who died in 2008. She was also preceded in death by her father, Ray Enos, in 1984. Surviving are three children, Patricia (Frank) Perry of Kalamazoo, Donald Preston of Bloomingdale and Jim Preston of Kalamazoo; five grandchildren, Lynann, Quinn, Melissa, Vaughn and Whitney; eight great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Nathan, Jacob, Yasmine, Kiah, Samiya, Brennan and Emma; her mother, Fern Enos of Kalamazoo; two brothers and a sister, Perry (Betty) Enos, Walter “Ike” (Jean) Enos and Mary Lou Holdeman; several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet with her family from 2 to 5 P.M. Friday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, funeral celebrant Bill Rose officiating. Burial at Alamo Center Cemetery will follow. Contributions in memory of Katie may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the Alamo Nursing Home.
