Florence
(Maatman) Walters and was a lifelong resident of the area. Carl was a 1945 graduate of
Otsego
High School
. He was a US Army Veteran of WWII serving his country from 1946 to 1948. For many years he was employed with Michigan Cottage Cheese and then General Motors, retiring in 1990. He previously attended Twin Lakes Reformed Church. Carl enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with family. On

, he married Donna Cronkhite, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Tim (Diane) Walters and Sid (Marlene) Walters, both of Otsego, Jan (John) Hutchinson of Galesburg and Chris (Mark) DuCharme of Plainwell; six grandchildren, Nate (Annie) Walters, Brett Walters, Ashley (Eric) Terpstra, Brian Hutchinson, Lindsey Sparks and Brandon Sparks; six brothers and sisters, Ethel Sims, Harris Walters, Bea Stanbaugh, Francis Walters, Lou (Ned) Sutherland and Viv (Walt) Reed; two brothers-in-law, Jim (Joyce) Cronkhite and Gene Cronkhite; many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marion Stokes and Kathryn Walters; and brothers and sisters in law, Bob Stokes, Effie Walters, Dick Sims, Bill Stanbaugh, Judy Cronkhite and Gloria Walters. Friends may meet his family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. Thursday at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, where services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M., Pastor Don Ray officiating. Burial will follow at
