There are moments and events in Life that challenge ones closely held beliefs. Brian has left us well before any of us would have expected. I am reasonably sure he would not have wanted sadness at his departure. Instead he would hope we we would celebrate his life.
Brian, It was a pleasure and privilege to have known you.

My condolences and deepest sympathy to Brian’s family and friends. I met Brian back in 1985 while he worked at a store in K-zoo and we became roomates soon after. He was a good, sincere person who would always be there to help you if he was needed. He was always fun to be around and I am honored to have known him and am a better person for it. He will truly be missed by many as I am sure he touched many people’s lives throughout his lifetime.

I have fond memories of Brian from South Jr. High – although it was many years ago… I was shocked to hear of his passing, and wish I could be there for the service. My thoughts and prayers are with all of his friends and family as you journey through this time of loss… may you find strength and comfort in the words shared by Pastor Joe, and peace as you learn to move forward.

To the Galovan Family,
I wish you our sincerest condolences. I am Ted Galovan, I am the son of Ed Galovan who is brother to Adolf Galovan (your Grandfather).
I am certain that Brian is in a better place with his family on the other side.
John 11:23-26 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die.

My deepest condolences go out to all of the Galovan family. I worked with Brian for several years at Perrigo. Also lived next to him in an apartment above Orlo’s. His wit and sense of humor couldn’t be matched. He always had a smile on his face that was contagious. He will be greatly missed by so many. As mentioned in an earlier thought, if you didn’t have the privilege of knowing him, you certainly missed out on a wonderful, wonderful person. May you RIP Brian!

I’m so sorry to hear of this tragedy, Sue. Brian and I lived as neighbors back in the 80’s on Vine Street. God we were skinny back then! He always came over to hang and share interest in music. I was a DJ and bought new albums all the time I remember giving him an album by a group called Ultravox. Fond memories Brian, rock on Buddy!

I first met Brian in 1978 when I was a transfer student to South Junior High School in Kalamazoo. It was a difficult time in my life, and Brian’s friendship helped me through it. We were kindred souls, with a similar outlook on life. Brian’s family also welcomed me as a friend, and for that I am grateful. Brian had a great sense of humor, a love of music, and a curiosity about life. I will never forget our many conversations as we walked home from South Junior High and to our respective Kalamazoo Gazette paper routes in the Vine Street area in Kalamazoo. I will never forget how Brian rode his unicycle seemingly everywhere in those days. I will also never forget experiencing the 1980 Kalamazoo tornado with him. Regrettably, Brian and I did not stay in contact in recent years, but I thought about him often and wondered how he was doing. Sue, Mike, and Tim, please accept my deepest condolences, and please take comfort in the fact that all of our lives were made better by having known Brian. He will never be forgotten. RIP, Brian.

With the passing of a friend that made me smile so often and who always knew what to say to me to make my day, I find a bit of an empty spot. I Didn’t get to say goodbye as so many often do not get the chance. Brian, your smile and kind words will be greatly missed. My knowledge of machines, music, and silly jokes expanded greatly when I met you and I thank you very much for investing your knowledge in the young girl I was at the time. Also, I thank you for helping water the flower of my self-esteem! I am a better person for knowing you!
My condolence to the family who loved Brian, and laughed with Brian. My sympathies to those who cared deeply for him. For those who never knew him, but are touched by those that have, I am sure in one way or another that we will show you some of the magic he showed us. God bless to all who may feel sadness and loss at this time. Brian would want us to smile at the vast memories he created in us.

Along with Dave Veen, who’s comments appear above, Brian and I were roommates in 1987 while I attended Western Michigan University. We lived on Village Street behind the Domino’s Pizza. This made it very convenient for hungry 20-somethings but i recall they got robbed pretty often. We would also awake in the middle of the night with the KZoo Police knocking on our door asking if we had seen anything. Good times!! I pulled out my photo albums and looked through them last night. Great memories! We had some very good parties at that house! I lost track of Brian after I moved to CA in 1995 and was alerted to his passing by Dave. Brian was an amazing person. He was a cool cat. Mellow. Nothing rattled him. RIP Brian. — JY
