The Lord whispered to Beverly, “Good and Faithful Servant enter into the joy of your Lord” on March 25, 2019, one week shy of her 81
st
birthday.
Beverly was born March 31, 1938, the 9
th
child of Carl and Helen (Thompson) Barber. She graduated from Otsego High School in 1956. Beverly met and fell in love with Joseph Gauthier and they were married on July 28, 1956 at St. Margaret Catholic Church.
Together they built what will always be “home” on Washington Street and out of love and commitment began to fill their home with 10 children. They say it takes a village to raise a child, but Beverly made it look easy. She even took in neighbors, boyfriends, girlfriends, nieces and nephews. Her table always had room for one more. Nobody went away hungry from her home.
Beverly lost her husband in 1996, which opened a new chapter in her life. She met Gene Cronkite who had also recently lost his partner. Together they enjoyed the last 20 years having fun. She enjoyed her time getting to know his family and became close with his daughter, Lori (Mike) Bartz and son, Kelly Cronkite. Beverly was happiest when she was surrounded by family and enjoyed having lunch every Thursday with her siblings.
Surviving are her children, Kim (Glenn) Merica, Suzanne Burmeister, George (April) Gauthier, Gary Gauthier, Sherry Gauthier, Natalie Gauthier, Jackie (Rob) Bryan; Sally (Bill) Sunnerville and Diane Edney; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren along with her siblings, Mildred Bos, Doris Schuiteboer and Beatrice Gauthier.
She was preceded in death by her husband and son, Joseph Gauthier.
Friends may visit with Beverly’s family from 5-7:30 P.M., Wednesday, March 27, 2019, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego with a rosary service at 7:30.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, March 28, 2019 at St. Margaret Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Simon Manjooran officiating.
Contributions in memory of Beverly may be made to St. Margaret Catholic School, St. Vincent de Paul Ministry of Otsego or
Wings of Hope Hospice of Allegan

Kim & Glenn, Jackie, Sherri & Gary and to the rest of the family. I really didn’t know that she was ill. So very sorry for your loss. She was a fun loving individual and always ready to enjoy whatever. We had great times together back in our days. She raised a fun loving family. I am in Florida so will be unable to attend the services.
My prayers are with all of you at this difficult time. She is with Joe now, the love of her life. May God be with you all.
