Betty Lutes
Betty Lou Lutes of Holland, Michigan, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 in Alamo. Mrs. Lutes was born March 10, 1941, in Allegan, Michigan to Guy and Elffie (Morris) Foote.
Betty had been employed at Pipp Community and Allegan General Hospitals as well as many other facilities, retiring from Houghton Lake Community Health after over 30 years as a registered nurse. In her leisure time she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and reading. Betty also enjoyed snowmobiling, having lunch with friends and had spent many night with her family in their camper.
On July 1, 1961 she married Ernest “Jim” Lutes, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter and a son, Tammy Ellen Lutes of Holland and Thomas Allen (Betsy) Lutes of Otsego; two grandchildren, James Clayton (Cora) Lutes and Jessie Ellen Lutes; a great grandson, Clayton Jonathan Lutes.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Jack and Lee.
In keeping with her wishes cremation has taken place. Burial of ashes will take place at a later time.

I have truly learned how to deal with illness with bravery from Betty. She is truly my inspiration, no more whining from me. I will so miss her, no matter how she felt, she was always upbeat and positive. We were blessed to have had her as long as we did. My sincere sympathy to Tammy, Tom, Betsy, Jim and the grandchildren. I worked with Betty at Allegan General Hospital. Betty was always upbeat at work, and it was a pleasure to work along side her. My condolences to you with your loss. I will always remember Betty fondly.

I am so sorry for your loss, I also worked with Betty both at Allegan
Gen. and Pine Oaks many years ago. I very much enjoyed working
with her. Betty was a very strong lady and has taught us all a lot
about how to fight and be strong, she fought a tough battle and won that battle many times, but now it is time for her to rest.
I am glad I was able to know Betty, she will be remember fondly and
missed by me so many others.

Extending heartfelt thoughts and prayers of sympathy.
Chersh all of your memories, as I have mine.
Betty, a dear friend from our years of working at Pine Oaks Nursing Center, in Allegan. She was the Director of Nursing and I was the Office Manager. This was in the late 70’s-early 80’s. We have kept in touch all these years, altho its only been Christmas and birthday cards these last few years.
We had many good parties and get togethers both at work and away from work. We created and took part in several mischivious jokes at others and to one another. Imagine the look on Betty’s face as she opened her office one morning……….it was completely empty! Drapes, desk, everything! After some questionable and fretful moments…….not to be showing any “Gotcha” look, she simply said, “I guess its time to paint and clean the carpet!” And so we did!
I cherish the afgan Betty made for me. I’m sure she will be making more in Heaven for the angels…..

Mom was the heart and soul of our family and she will be missed dearly. She was a very strong woman who was very devoted to my dad, her kids and her friends. Some of her last words to me were, “I’m sorry, I don’t want to leave you…but it’s my time to go.” She was always thinking of other people; that was just her way. Believe me when I say that she wants all of us to be happy and move forward with our lives. She loved life and she loved all of you! Thank you for the memories and funny stories!

I remember Betty from when I worked at Allegan General in the psychiatric unit. She would come to the unit and check on things, always kind, thoughtful, and in my opinion, very sharp nurse.
