Bertram R. ‘Bert’ VanDeLaare of Kalamazoo, Michigan, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011, at his home. Mr. VanDeLaare was born October 27, 1935 in Kalamazoo to Melvin and Aretha (Shallhorn) VanDeLaare and was a lifelong resident of the area. For many years he was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local #7 and retired in 1990 from Wheeler-Blaney. In his leisure time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and mowing his yard on his tractor. Bert was a loving husband and father.
Surviving are his wife, Ginger VanDeLaare; five children, Debra (Lewis) Cook of Shelbyville, Barbara Clark of Otsego, Jim Henry of Otsego, Nancy (Joe) Gettys of Kalamazoo and Laura (David) Hoffman of Alamo; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandsons; 3 brothers, Rich VanDeLaare of Washington State, Chuck (Evie) VanDeLaare of Galesburg and Darrel (Ann) VanDeLaare of Comstock; several nieces and nephews.
In keeping with his wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or service.
