This is to the family of Ben Selby, a friend of my son, Andrew, and one of my recreational summer baseball kids. I send my condolences to the family, as well as a thanks for making my son, Andrew, a part of Ben’s life. Andrew enjoyed coming to the house to hang out with Ben, and I always enjoyed hearing when Ben called to ask if Andrew could come and visit. Ben was a good ball player, and always had a good spirit when he talked to me. Him and Andrew saw a few movies together at the M-89 theater, and Andrew always said he enjoyed himself. God Bless all of you, and again, I send condolences at the loss of Ben. He was a great kid.

Ben & I had almost every class together every year since fourth grade. He always knew how to keep a smile on everyone’s face and knew how to bring everyone’s mood up in a jiff. He was an amazing friend to everyone. He will be missed by many. He will always be in my heart as the smiley and happy guy he was. I’m sorry for your loss. Your family will be in my prayers.

Ben was my little cousin. It seems like just yesterday he was a little boy but how fast he grew up and truned into a young man. I did not get to spend much time with him but the time i did spend with him he was always so happy and always had a joke up his sleeve. He will be missed so so much by us all and by Jehovah God who will so soon wake him up to be with us again in paradise.

Our most sincere condolences on your loss. We heard about Ben last night from Lavina.
Ben was a good friend to our boys Kyle and Jacob. We would often see him when he was at his grandparents. Ben loved to fish with our boys in the pond or do anything outdoors. We liked that he encouraged our boys to do more outdoors and get away from their video games. He was always very upbeat and courtious.
We and our boys will miss him. May God give all of you strength and comfort during this time.

As a substitute teacher I’ve known Ben since he was in 5th grade. Ben was always a good student for me. His smile was contagious, he laughed a lot, and he seemed to genuinely enjoy life. It’s tragic to see such a life lost so early. My family and I are praying for Ben, his family and friends, and the rest of the community. Our heartfelt condolences go out to all of you.

Personally, I did not know Ben. But, I did see him during lunch this past year on occasion. He always looked so happy, and it’s breath-taking that he is no longer physically with us. It makes me really think about taking things for granted. So, I thank Ben for teaching me this; even though I do regret his death. I am so sorry to Ben’s family and friends, but at least he lived the life he wanted.

There is an event I’m trying to get started at my school this friday, In honor of Ben, we’re getting as many people as we can to wear camo. Ben was such a sweet kid. I’ve gone to school with him for 11 years now and my most recent memories with him were in my physics class. he constantly talked of his family and his aspirations and hunting and just about everything he cared about. He was passionate about the things he set his mind to and he was confident in the work he did, even in physics.. I’m gonna miss you bud.. rest in peace <3

Dave and Annette, I’m so sorry Ben was such a good kid i can honestly say that Ben was like my brother. I’m not one that is known to cry and it seems as tho it keeps happening. i love that kid. This is such a tragedy. i remember him always talking to me telling me it would be ok or i know storm he is better than that or he would stick up for me if i was gonna get introuble and he would help me and tell the teacher that i didn’t do anything if it was the truth. i will always remember comming over and playing video games or playing with those farret’s or riding bikes all the time. the only time Ive laughed today was thinking of the good times we had. he used to tease me and everything because i wouldnt jump into the pool because it was cold and he always got me in there some how. ben you are with the big guy now and i guess what they say is everything happens for a reason and i guess thats what happened. well i love ya ben. I worked with Ben during my first year at Starr, and I remember him as being the highlight of my workday during an otherwise difficult year. He was friendly, cheerful, easy-going, and always a hard worker, even when the task was difficult. He gained hero status among his peers when, through hard work and perseverance, he conquered the “extra help” math group and moved up to the next level of 5th grade math! He is well-loved and remembered by his Starr family.

We are so very sorry and saddened for the loss of Ben and don’t really know what to say. He loved life, his parents, and dogs. We spent time fishing together at Swan Lake a couple of summers ago, he was sure he caught the most fish! We enjoyed having him over to visit at Mike’s house. He loved to tease and hang with the guys. He loved playing with Barney the beagle, and the other dogs. Ben had a lovely smile that would light up the room. Our sympathies and prayers to you. For your loss we grieve. Ben wanted to learn and do everything with wood sometimes all at once. The list of projects to do was long. Not all was woodworking in the Shop. We talked of many things in the shop and to and from the carving meetings. Some what he called life stuff. He even tried to keep me up to date with new bands, saying i need to keep a open mind. We were making plans to start a business doing Ero mounts and walking sticks. But with it all came the COMEDY quick with a joke or a poke.”Yea Yea I know carve down hill sand sand sand’. What that? It was a Jake moment”
Know that Ben loved you very much, family and friendship came first . He was well on his way to being a fine young Man
Their will be a empty spot in my shop

Annette, It has been many years since I seen you, but I offer my deepest reqrets at the loss of your son (Ben). I understand he was your only child, I feel that pain, I almost lost my only child Nicole in a car accident a few years ago. I hope that Jehovah’s strenth will carry you through this very hard time in your life.
