Anne Carlyle

Anne Clark Carlyle has reunited with her husband in heaven. She passed peacefully and unexpectedly in her sleep on Thursday, August 4, 2016.

She was born in Ashland, Ohio on November 27, 1946 to Donald and Wilma (Bowen) Clark. Anne was a faithful member of the Otsego United Methodist Church where she was heavily involved in mission work, praise team and choir. To know her was to love her. She was admired by many for her caring generosity, patience and kindness. For 40 years Anne had been active with Carlyle Roofing which she operated first with her husband and later with her son. On August 10, 1969 in Ashland she married Harold “Butch” Carlyle who passed away in 2012.

Anne is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Joe) Gibson; son, George (Kelly) Carlyle, grandchildren, Ben, Rebecca and Sam Gibson and Andrew and Grace Carlyle; sister, Connie (Richard) Jones; brother, Steve (Terry) Clark and countless nieces and nephews who lovingly referred to her as Auntie Anne.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Bill.

Friends may visit with Anne’s family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.

A funeral service will take place Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Otsego United Methodist Church with Pastor Joe Shaler and Pastor Dan Minor officiating.

Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Plainwell.

Contributions in memory of Anne may be made to the Otsego United Methodist Church Ministry.

Catherine & George and Families: I wish I could tell you what your Mom meant to me, She was a second Mom to me and I consider myself very blessed to have been so close to her for the last 2 years.I have so many beautiful memories. She talked so proudly of all of you and your children, I would get multiple pictures and texts that she sent with pride of her grand kids and your families. She missed your Dad every day. She was a ball of love and kindness, happiness, and fun. I know you know all this, I just wanted you to know that I knew it too.

Love in Christ, Ellyn Deneau

From Lark: Anne was a wonderful lady, a great person, and a friend. My special memories of Anne for the rest of my life is when I walk into church, I always get a big smile, and no matter what she’s doing, or where we are sitting, she comes and gives us a big hug. Just two weeks ago, Anne came up and asked me how was my arm, and my new business. No matter what was bothering Ann, she always showed her concern and love. She will be terribly missed, but in my heart, I feel Anne’s purpose was completed and she went Home. One day I know I will see my friend. God Bless Anne. From Lark Baker.

From Penny: Thank you Anne, for welcoming Lark and I to OUMC. Your enthusiasm and sparkle will never be forgotten. My heart is very full. See you sooner than we know. From Penny Baker.

Dear Catherine and George, so very sorry for your loss. Memories of your mom go way back. Probably most fun we had was in aerobic dance class. When I admired a purse she had made, she quickly whipped one up for me….just the kind of thing she did! Blessings to you and your families, Mickey

Anne I’m sure is singing The Lord’s praises right now as we speak…and dancing too…she will be deeply missed. She was loved by so many. She will always be a great brave courageous woman that I can look to as an example of who I want to be. What an amazing life! What an amazing positive joyous friend to be around! If something was negative around her she’d find a way to make it look positive! I’ll miss her smile and our talks and her hugs.

To Anne’s family – there isn’t much I can say that you don’t know yourselves, but for us Anne will be greatly missed. From her work on the Trustees with Bob and my time with her in the bell choir (she stood next to me and made sure I was playing the correct bell) we became great friends. She always made my days lighter as the secretary at the OUMC and was always uplifting to me. She just sensed it when I needed it. You are all in our prayers. Please know she was a grand lady, but a happier one now that she is with her beloved Butch and our Lord. Prayers to you all.

What a joy our Anne was!!! She loved & lived with a passion only God could have supplied. She was amazing with how she ministered to sooo many! She had a huge heart filled with compassion especially for the down & out and older folks. On the day of her passing we had a special talk about what heaven would be like and reuniting with her Butch! We were blessed to have her in our home that night for an evangelism meeting and of course her heart for Jesus was shining! When I gave her a hug before she left, as always her hug was full of her caring spirit. What a special friend. Our sympathy and love to all. John & Diane

To Catherine : You may not remember me, I was a Brownie leade and a soft ball coach back in your elementary school days. Your mother was the most giving person, she was always there to help with the activities and etc. Always had a smile and always had time to stop and talk when I would see her out and about. She will be missed by those who knew her.

May she Rest In Peace.

We were so sadden by the unexpected passing of your Mom and Grandmother. She was a wonderful, caring, and compassionate friend to so many! On Wednesday afternoon, I ran into her at Meijers and we stood and talked for a period of time. I was asking her about Ben and what sports he played in the fall. She was so, so proud of all of her grandchildren. I will miss her smiles, hugs and words of encouragement. She was a very special friend. She missed your dad and now they are together and sharing so many stories. She will certainly be missed by everyone who knew her. She won’t have to wait for her Angel wings because she had them here on earth! Our sincere condolences and your family will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers!

We want you to know how much we looked forward to seeing Anne each Sunday! We were greeted with a hug & smile!!! Also, she would say “I love you” to each of us!!! We admired her faith & love for her Lord & Saviour, Jesus! She never missed a Sunday as the praise team sang by raising her hands to testify her faith!!! She was a special friend and will be greatly missed, however, we can just picture her meeting Jesus Christ & her heavenly holy father, God!!! What an awesome time for her!!!

Dear Katherine, George and families:

It has taken me awhile to post this as it seems there are no appropriate words to describe the love, caring and support your mom/grandma gave to so many. Her love for the Lord was so clearly shared with everyone she touched. Always a positive attitude of smiles and support. From the day we met, when she and your dad came to church the first time we were instant soul mates. Our friendship grew and grew as we shared our hearts, our lives and our love for Jesus in our conversations and also so joyfully thru song together in the Praise Team. Her witness of unconditional love and her “what would Jesus do” spirit was known to all. Where there was a need she could fill, she did. Her beautiful smile and open, giving heart came so naturally without effort. her presence in a room was strength, love, and a “yes we can” spirit. She was so proud and loved talking about all of you. Your great loss extends also to her church family and you are in our hearts thoughts and prayers as you face each day. What a blessing to have had her as you mom, coworker, and your grandma. She will be so missed but so remembered in all our hearts as we try to follow in her footsteps of unconditional love and caring. May God fill your hearts with peace thru the wonderful love and memories she has left with each of you. She will be so greatly missed, but I have been so blessed to have had her

In my life and am thankful to have known such a true and faithful friend in Christ.

To Anne’s family my deepest sympathy. She showed me such great

kindness right after my husband passed earlier this year. I knew her

from many years ago when our children were in nursery school

together and then reconnected in January of this year and I will

never forget the gift she sent to me in the mail and how much it

has meant to me. Such a kind caring lady and so selfless.

I am in total shock at reading that Anne passed away. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. She was truly blessed by the Lord, and lived her life for Him. She was an Angel here on earth, so filled with the Spirit in all she did!! I guess God decided her work on earth was done, and her time to come and live with Him, and be reunited with Butch. I know this is so hard for all of you at this time, but know what a blessing she was to so many. Smiles and praise unending!! What a beautiful lady she was!! May comfort, peace, and understanding surround you. May you feel God’s Love and strength at this difficult time. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you!!

I was often “next” in kathys salon chair after your mom and seeing her always made my day brighter! Running into each other while “visiting” our husbands, always brought laughter that some may have found “inappropriate” – not us!!!

Just passing her in her little red truck and having her “swing” by to say “hi” when she was in the neighborhood on Sunday’s brought a smile to my face 🙂

Catherine your mom was soooo special to so many people-I feel so blessed to have been one!

Love, hugs and prayers
