Allen L Shand

Al passed away, Thursday, February 22, 2024, at the Wings Home in Allegan.

He was born October 11, 1936, in Kalamazoo, the son of Robert and Orell Shand. Al grew up in Oakwood and attended State High (University High) and graduated from Western Michigan University. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959-61.

Al was a car enthusiast. He liked restoring cars and loved working on and driving Porsche and attending swap meets. Most of all Al enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, being outdoors and a great game of golf. On November 19, 1966, he married Judy Swayze who survives. 

Also surviving are his son, Mark (Mona) Shand, 3 grandchildren, Noah, Cecilia and Elijah; sister, Linda (Jerry) Norman; brother, John (Dareen) Shand along with special nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may visit with Al’s family starting at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, February 29, 2024, at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 P.M.
