Alice J. Davis
Alice passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Hastings Rehabilitation and Health Care.
She was born February 27, 1927 in Otsego, the daughter of Alvin and Golda (Halstead) Wood. Alice was a1944 Otsego High School graduate. For many years she was a country school teacher and worked for the Hastings Public Schools Superintendent. She also worked for AAA for 10 years and Cappon Oil until her retirement. Alice enjoyed doing ceramics, quilting, collecting porcelain dolls, sewing and volunteering at the voting polls. She attended Hastings Assembly of God Church.
Surviving are her children, Lois Wallace of Grand Rapids, Kathryn Shapley of Hastings and Karen (Roderick) Newton of Hastings; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; her siblings, Frank, Betty and Patti along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughters, Jean Shapley and Missy, sons-in-law, David and James; 3 brothers, Jim, Kenneth and Kevin and sisters, Bernice, Barbara and Evelyn; and her life partner Stanley.
According to her wishes cremation has taken place.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Hastings Assembly of God Church with Pastor Alan Leonhardt officiating.
Burial of ashes will take place at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego.
Contributions in memory of Alice may be made to Elara Caring Hospice.
