Alan passed away peacefully on October 4, 2024, at home.
He was born to Ralph Robert and Johanna Aleida (Love) Sweitzer on August 27, 1944, in Kalamazoo. He worked as an Inside Journeyman Wireman through IBEW Local 131 for 50 years.
Alan enjoyed building things in his woodshop, camping at Warner Camp and Eaton Rapids Methodist Camp. In Galesburg, on February 1, 1964, he married Barbara Wilson with whom he shared 60 years.
Also surviving are daughters Vicki (Edward) Thayer and Karen (Michael) Hunt; grandchildren Paula Arbuckle, Davis (Sarah) Hunt, Dakota Poore, Mitchell Hunt, and Charlene Poore; great grandson Kayden Poore; brother Lewis Sweitzer; brother-in-law Ken Worsham; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by parents, infant brother Glen, sister Ardith Worsham, sister-in-law Betty Sweitzer, and niece Pat. Alan was very mission minded, participating in several overseas projects with Project Partner and countless efforts at Warner Camp.
Friends may meet with family from 2-4 and 6-8 P.M. Wednesday, October 9, 2024, at Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego.
The service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Otsego Church of God.
The private interment will be at Alamo Center Cemetery.
